Work @ Camp

Thank you for a great summer, Camp Staff of 2024!

Take a moment to imagine making a difference in the life of a child. Empower campers to make decisions, become independent, and be proud of who they are. That is what we do at camp! Rocky Creek is where our campers challenge themselves as they navigate activities at the campsite units, in the dining hall, and along the trails. Working at camp is a unique experience that can have a positive impact on you for the rest of your life.

Working at our camps takes a special kind of person! You’ll be a great fit for camp if you….

  • Are passionate about delivering an inclusive experience to all campers.
  • Are enthusiastic about youth development.
  • Are sensitive to people from all cultures and abilities.
  • Are Energetic! Able to sing songs, lead games, and show positivity.
  • Are a team player, willing to wear many different “hats” and learn new things.
  • Are friendly and calm, especially under pressure.
  • Are honest and kind, keeping the children’s best interest in mind.
  • Are prepared to work outdoors in the cool temperatures, heat, humidity, and rain.
  • Are good at switching gears at a moment’s notice and carry on.
  • Are willing to disconnect from technology for most of the day.
  • Are not bothered by dirt, bugs, or wildlife (spiders, mice, deer, etc.).

Serving at Camp is Serious Business

As a Camp Rocky Creek Employee, you are:

  • Committing to the vision, mission, values and philosophy of camp. By taking ownership of what Camp is about, you are taking responsibility for a successful operation in all areas of camp at all times.
  • Connecting with others and nature in a meaningful way. You will experience growth in spirit, mind and body while at camp. Serving kids on our 120+ acres of forested land in Cornwall, PA is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Unplugged and surrounded by God’s creation, connection is inevitable.
  • Celebrating every moment. It doesn’t take long to realize that being a camp employee is one of the most rewarding jobs you will ever have. Every day, camp employees celebrate small victories and huge successes. Whether it’s teaching a camper how to shoot an arrow or helping them overcome a fear of heights, you will find things to celebrate in every moment.

The Lebanon Valley Family YMCA requires all staff to have background checks in advance of reporting to camp.
